Product Description
1. Product Overview

The Original HIWIN HGR55R is a size 55 top-mounting profile rail for the HIWIN HG Series heavy-load ball-type linear guideway. This page is specifically for the rail-only product. Guide blocks, rail mounting bolts and other accessories are not included unless they are separately listed in the quotation or order confirmation.

HGR55R is intended for larger machine axes that require a substantial rail section, stable load support and high guideway rigidity. Its 53 mm rail width, 44 mm rail height and approximate weight of 15.08 kg per meter make it suitable for heavy production machinery, large machining equipment, gantry systems and industrial automation structures where smaller HG rail sizes may not provide the required load or moment margin.

The rail can be combined with official HG55 square, low-profile square and flange guide blocks. The correct block must be selected according to the mounting envelope, assembly height, load requirement, moment direction, block length and required rigidity of the complete guideway.

Do not order an HGR55R replacement rail from nominal size alone. Confirm the complete existing rail code, mounting direction, overall length, mounting-hole layout, end distances, accuracy grade, matching block model and assembly preload before issuing the purchase order.

HIWIN HGR55R rail dimensions

The dimensions above apply to the HGR55R rail fastened from above. HGR55T is a separate bottom-mounting rail configuration with threaded mounting holes and must not be treated as the same rail type.

Dynamic load rating, static load rating and permissible moment depend on the selected HG55 block and the complete rail-and-block assembly. These ratings are not independent performance values of a loose rail.

3. Official Matching Blocks
Block Model Block Type Load Type / Structure Use Note
HGH55CA Square block Heavy load, standard length Standard square block for a compact top-mounted installation.
HGH55HA Square block Super heavy load, long structure Long square block selected for increased load and moment capacity.
HGL55CA Low-profile square block Heavy load, standard length Lower assembly-height structure for installations with restricted vertical space.
HGL55HA Low-profile square block Super heavy load, long structure Long low-profile block for greater load support with reduced assembly height.
HGW55CC Flange block Heavy load, standard length Flange block with a mounting structure suitable for the applicable top or bottom fastening arrangement.
HGW55HC Flange block Super heavy load, long structure Long flange block for increased load and permissible moment requirements.

The six models listed above are the confirmed official HG55 blocks for the HGR55R rail. HGH55, HGL55 and HGW55 blocks are not included unless the quotation identifies the exact model, suffix and quantity.

HGW55 availability should not be inferred from smaller HG sizes. For HGR55R, the confirmed flange-block models are HGW55CC and HGW55HC. HGW55CA, HGW55HA, HGW55CB and HGW55HB must not be added without separate official verification.

4. Accuracy and Preload

The confirmed accuracy codes for an interchangeable HGR55R rail are C, H and P. C is the normal accuracy grade, H is the high accuracy grade and P is the precision grade.

The selected rail accuracy must correspond to the matching blocks and the required guideway performance. A higher accuracy code does not compensate for an incorrectly machined base, uneven reference shoulder or inaccurate parallel-rail alignment.

The confirmed preload codes for interchangeable HG55 blocks are Z0 and ZA. Z0 is the light-preload class for general motion requirements. ZA is the medium-preload class used where increased rigidity and more controlled elastic displacement are required.

Preload is a property of the complete block, rail and rolling-element relationship, not an independent property of the loose rail. The rail-only product attribute therefore identifies the preload codes applicable to an interchangeable assembly rather than claiming that the rail itself carries a preset preload.

ZB is a heavy-preload code for non-interchangeable assemblies matched as complete rail-and-block sets. A ZB requirement must be quoted with the complete guideway configuration, rail quantity, block quantity, accuracy grade and matching arrangement.

5. Selection, Installation and Custom Rail Notes

Confirm overall rail length from the approved equipment drawing. Overall length is not the same as usable stroke. The required length depends on block length, number of blocks, spacing between blocks, required travel, overtravel allowance, end clearance and mechanical stop position.

HGR55R uses a 120 mm mounting-hole pitch. The published standard reference end distance is 30 mm. For custom-cut rails, the first and last mounting-hole positions must be confirmed before processing. State whether equal end distances are required or whether the rail must match an existing machine-base hole pattern.

The published standard lengths include 780, 1020, 1260, 1500, 1980, 2580 and 2940 mm. Longer or non-standard lengths can be reviewed up to the official maximum rail length, but actual availability, processing tolerance and lead time must be confirmed against the final order code.

For axes longer than practical one-piece supply, jointed rails may be reviewed. Joint locations, matched identification marks, installation sequence and mounting-base alignment must be defined before production. A jointed arrangement should not automatically be treated as equivalent to a one-piece rail for every precision requirement.

Because HGR55R is a large and heavy rail, confirm lifting, positioning and machine-base access before installation. The reference shoulder and mounting surface must support the selected accuracy and preload of the complete guideway.

Optional surface treatment can be reviewed according to the required environment and complete HIWIN order code. Do not assume stainless steel, corrosion-resistant coating or a special surface treatment unless it is explicitly confirmed in the quotation.

Cross-brand model references are for selection comparison only. Rails and blocks from different brands cannot be mixed. For replacement projects, replace the rail and block as a complete set from the same brand.

6. Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does the HGR55R price include an HG55 guide block?

No. This is a rail-only page. HGH55CA, HGH55HA, HGL55CA, HGL55HA, HGW55CC and HGW55HC blocks must be separately listed with the required quantities.

2. What mounting bolt is used for HGR55R?

The confirmed rail mounting bolt is M14 × 45. The machine-base thread depth and mounting design must still be checked against the equipment drawing.

3. Can HGR55R be cut to a custom length?

Custom length can be reviewed. Provide the exact overall length, quantity and required first-hole and last-hole positions before processing.

4. Can an existing HG55 block be installed on a new HGR55R rail?

The complete block code, accuracy, preload and wear condition must be checked. If the existing guideway is worn or was originally supplied as a matched assembly, replacing the rails and blocks together is the more controlled solution.

5. Can HGR55R be supplied for an axis longer than 4000 mm?

A multi-section jointed rail arrangement may be reviewed after confirming the total axis length, joint locations, block travel path, accuracy requirement and mounting conditions.

6. Can another brand's size 55 block be used on HGR55R?

No direct cross-brand mixing should be assumed. Similar nominal size does not confirm identical raceway geometry, tolerance or preload. Replace the rail and block as a complete set from the same brand.
