Product Description
1. Product Overview

The Original HIWIN HGR45 is a size 45 profile rail for the HIWIN HG Series heavy-load ball-type linear guideway. This page is specifically for the rail-only product. Guide blocks, rail mounting bolts and other accessories are not included unless they are separately identified in the quotation or order confirmation.

HGR45 is intended for machine builders, maintenance teams and automation engineers who require an original HIWIN rail with a defined mounting pattern, accuracy code and rail length. Its larger 45 mm rail section is commonly considered for machining centers, CNC equipment, gantry systems, production machinery and industrial automation axes where structural rigidity and stable load support are important.

The HGR45 rail can be used with official HG45 square, low-profile square and flange guide blocks. Block structure must be selected according to the machine mounting space, assembly height, fastening direction, load requirement and permissible moment of the complete guideway.

Do not select a replacement rail only from the nominal size. Confirm the existing rail code, mounting direction, overall length, first and last mounting-hole positions, accuracy grade, matching block model and preload requirement before ordering.

Original HIWIN HGR45 Linear Guide Rail for HGH45CA and HGW45CC

The dimensions above apply to the standard HGR45R rail mounted from the top. A bottom-mounting HGR45T rail uses a different mounting-hole structure and should be treated as a separate rail configuration.

Dynamic load rating, static load rating and permissible moment depend on the selected guide block and the complete rail-and-block assembly. They are not independent load ratings of the loose HGR45 rail.

3. Official Matching Blocks
Block Model Block Type Load Type / Structure Use Note
HGH45CA Square block Heavy load, standard length Compact square block mounted from the top.
HGH45HA Square block Super heavy load, long structure Long square block for increased load and moment capacity.
HGL45CA Low-profile square block Heavy load, standard length Reduced assembly height compared with the standard HGH structure.
HGL45HA Low-profile square block Super heavy load, long structure Long low-profile block for higher load requirements.
HGW45CA Flange block Heavy load, mounting from top Standard-length flange block with threaded mounting holes.
HGW45HA Flange block Super heavy load, mounting from top Long flange block with threaded mounting holes.
HGW45CB Flange block Heavy load, mounting from bottom Standard-length flange block with through-hole mounting structure.
HGW45HB Flange block Super heavy load, mounting from bottom Long flange block with through-hole mounting structure.
HGW45CC Flange block Heavy load, mounting from top or bottom Standard-length flange block supporting either applicable mounting direction.
HGW45HC Flange block Super heavy load, mounting from top or bottom Long flange block for higher load and moment requirements.

Guide blocks are not included with the rail unless the quotation clearly lists the block model and quantity. The complete suffix must be confirmed because CA, CB and CC flange blocks use different mounting arrangements.

For a new machine, select the block according to the mounting platform and required load margin. For replacement work, provide clear photographs of the existing rail and block markings so that the original structure can be checked before quotation.

4. Accuracy and Preload

The confirmed accuracy codes for an interchangeable HGR45 rail are C, H and P. C is the normal accuracy grade, H is the high accuracy grade and P is the precision grade.

The selected accuracy grade must correspond to the matching blocks, rail length, machine-base accuracy and required running parallelism. A precision rail cannot compensate for inaccurate mounting shoulders, uneven mounting surfaces or incorrect parallel alignment.

The confirmed preload codes for interchangeable HG45 guide blocks are Z0 and ZA. Z0 is the light-preload class used for general motion requirements. ZA is the medium-preload class selected where increased rigidity and more controlled deflection are required.

ZB is used for heavy-preload, non-interchangeable assemblies that are matched as a complete rail-and-block set. A ZB requirement should therefore be quoted as a complete guideway assembly rather than as a loose interchangeable HGR45 rail.

5. Selection, Installation and Custom Rail Notes

Confirm the required overall rail length from the machine drawing. Overall rail length is not the same as usable stroke. The final length depends on block length, number of blocks, spacing between blocks, travel requirement, safety clearance and mechanical stop position.

HGR45R uses a 105 mm mounting-hole pitch. A standard reference end distance is 22.5 mm, but custom cutting may change the first and last hole positions. State whether equal end distances are preferred or whether the rail must follow an existing machine-base hole layout.

Cut-to-length supply can be reviewed according to the required quantity and overall length. The final rail length, cutting tolerance and end-hole arrangement must be confirmed before processing. The machine base should not be drilled from an estimated hole pattern.

For long-axis projects that exceed practical one-piece supply limits, a jointed rail arrangement may be reviewed. Joint positions, matched identification marks, mounting sequence and base alignment must be defined before production. Jointed rails should not automatically be treated as equivalent to a one-piece rail for every precision application.

When two parallel rails are installed, identify the reference rail, reference shoulder and mounting orientation. Mounting surfaces should be checked for flatness, straightness and parallelism before the rail bolts are tightened in sequence.

Standard HIWIN surface condition or an optional coating must be confirmed through the complete order code. Do not assume that a standard HGR45 rail is stainless steel or that a particular corrosion-protection treatment is included without written confirmation.

Cross-brand model references are for selection comparison only. Rails and blocks from different brands cannot be mixed. For replacement projects, replace the rail and block as a complete set from the same brand.

6. Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is the HGR45 page for a complete rail-and-block set?

No. This is a rail-only page. Any HGH45, HGL45 or HGW45 blocks must be separately listed with their exact model suffixes and quantities.

2. What information is required for an HGR45 quotation?

Please provide the rail quantity, overall length of each rail, required block models and quantities, accuracy grade, preload requirement, end-hole layout and delivery destination.

3. Can an existing HG45 block be used on a new HGR45 rail?

This requires checking the complete block code, accuracy, preload and wear condition. Where the original guideway is worn or was supplied as a matched assembly, replacing both rails and blocks is the more controlled solution.

4. Can HGR45 rails be supplied for an axis longer than one rail?

A jointed rail solution may be reviewed after confirming total length, joint position, quantity, accuracy requirement and installation conditions.

5. Can a corrosion-resistant surface treatment be requested?

Optional treatment can be checked against the complete HIWIN order code. The required environment and treatment must be stated before quotation because it affects model availability and lead time.

6. Can a size 45 block from another brand be installed on HGR45?

No direct cross-brand mixing should be assumed. Nominal size does not confirm identical raceway geometry, dimensional tolerance or preload. Replace the rail and block as a complete set from the same brand.
